The key component
to this system is the marriage identification number. Every individual has their own
unique individual record identification number (known as the IRIN at MyTrees.com). And each family has their own family
record identification number. It is the family group record where everyone is tied together.
This means that if I want to file or retrieve a paper document
that pertains to the John Smith family, whose family record identification
number is 38,
I just have to open my notebook to the tab which is labeled 38. That is where I find a copy of the Family Group Record (called the FRIN at MyTrees.com) with all the notes that have been entered into the online storage area and printed, and where I file all of my paper documents that pertain to this family.
