How-To Organize Your Paper Files - Using Legacy Family Tree
Page 23 of 30

Some people label one of the brown tabs with the words "Family Group Records." Then they file the lighter buff colored numbered tabs after that brown label. These buff colored tabs represent the clear plastic tabs of the past. There are more numbered dividers added as the family grows. This is where the printed family group records (MRINs) are filed. The 99 tabs are pre-numbered. These are available in sets of 99 by clicking here, and are actually cheaper than buying unlabeled tabs from the store. As illustrated above, the cusomizable brown tabs can be labeled 100, 200, 300, etc.,to allow the numbers to expand indefinitely. This saves the researcher valuable time, and is a very nice way to pass down your family history to others. Particularly when you write the instructions for using the filing system and place those instructions in front of the Pedigree Charts tab.
